Dabo Swinney named his quarterback.
Christopher Vizzina starts Saturday night at Tiger Stadium. That is not a two-QB fog. Second career start. First one on the road. First one in Baton Rouge after dark.
Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. CT, 7:30 Eastern, ABC. LSU lists the 6:30. ESPN’s Saturday Night Football window is 7:30 Eastern. Same game. Sold out. College GameDay is already on the parade ground.
This is Lane Kiffin’s first one in purple. Eight months of portal work and mock game days. Wednesday he got on the SEC teleconference and said the first-game thing without the usual fog.

“We’re excited. This has been eight months we’ve been here at least — and all leading up to this first performance.”
On Swinney: “Dabo’s done one of the best jobs in college football of sustaining over a long period of time. That’s really hard to do.” Then the part that matters Saturday: they have to play well together the first time, and they have to play smart.
Vizzina is the other first. Senior from Birmingham. One prior start. In that start last season he threw for 317 yards and three scores with no picks, per the Week 1 preview desks. That is one tape. It is not a career. Chad Morris is calling the offense now. Blake Baker gets a first-year starter in a stadium that holds a little over 102,000 when it is loud.

LSU already knew who was taking the first snap on this side. Sam Leavitt is the quarterback. He has been saying he is healthy since August. This is his first start here and his first college game since last fall. That is enough firsts for one Saturday.
The Wright file is separate. He practiced. The seven-day clock still keeps him off Clemson. That is already on this desk. Do not make this piece about him.
Last September these two opened in Clemson. LSU won 17–10. This is the first meeting in Tiger Stadium. LSU leads the series 4–1. That is history. Saturday is not.
Kiffin told the room what he wants first: win. Then the style. He also said GameDay-night emotion is a discipline problem. That is the whole preview. The quarterback on the other sideline has a name. The stadium is full. The first snap is Saturday.
The board on this site still has LSU −10 at DraftKings and Caesars and LSU −10.5 at FanDuel. Quote the board. Do not invent a new number.
