Britain just dropped two big official dumps a few weeks apart: net migration and crime. Texas readers will hear the political version first — crime up because of migrants. The ledgers do not say that. They also do not say the opposite. After British nationals, the most common prison nationalities were Albanian (9 percent of FNOs), Irish (7 percent), Polish (7 percent), Romanian (6 percent), Indian (4 percent). About 18 percent of first prison receptions in calendar 2025 were foreign nationals, a similar proportion to that observed since 2020. That is who is in prison. It is not a proven crime rate among all foreign-born residents. Among returned FNOs, drug offences were 38 percent (2,285); theft 13 percent; 53 percent had prison terms of two years or over. Home Office caveat: returned FNOs may have arrived in the UK some years earlier, may have claimed asylum, and may have lived in the UK for some time. Offence-group data on returned FNOs are official statistics in development. Total returns from the UK: 40,605. Asylum-related returns: 12,568, up 14 percent. Those are removals of people already in the immigration system, not a published asylum-crime rate. Shadow home secretary Chris Philp, on an expansion of “deport now, appeal later,” said only the Conservatives were committed to deporting all foreign criminals. House Appropriations Chair Tom Cole (R-Okla.) said he still wants the 12 full-year bills done before year’s end, but admitted the midterms will scramble everyone’s math. “Everybody’s calculations will change. Everybody’s point of view will change. It’ll have an enormous impact about what happens for the balance of the year,” Cole told NBC.From Trinity, the hierarchy is simple.
