Green Is Officially Out. Spears Too. Death Valley Still Opens Saturday.

Wednesday’s SEC availability report did what Monday’s pressers only hinted at. Tight end Trey’Dez Green is OUT for Saturday. Safety Dashawn Spears is OUT. Wideout Phillip Wright III is OUT. Corner Ja’Keem Jackson is doubtful. Safety Tamarcus Cooley is questionable. That is the board No. 10 LSU (2–1, 0–1 SEC) carries into a 6:30 p.m. CT ABC night against No. 23 Texas A&M (2–1, 0–1) in Tiger Stadium — first SEC win still sitting there for whoever takes it.

Green’s OUT line was the one everybody waited on. The Zachary tight end leads the Tigers with 222 receiving yards on 14 catches. He left Oxford early in the fourth after a catch-and-run, and his mother’s Sunday Facebook note — MRI with no torn ligaments, no surgery, “some bad sprains and bruises, miss “some games” — was the best version of bad news September hands you. KBTX and And The Valley Shook both logged him OUT on the first midweek sheet. Spears, the Denham Springs junior who started the first three, is already done for the year with the ACL. Wright III is season-ending too. Depth is not a slogan this week. It is the depth chart.
