Gold Fills the Valley. The First SEC Win Still Has to Be Taken.
No. 10 LSU hosts No. 23 Texas A&M on Wear Gold / Champions Day — Fridays report thins the Aggies’ backfield, and Death Valley opens the home SEC book tonight.

BATON ROUGE — The lots opened at 7 a.m. The gold is already walking campus. No. 10 LSU (21, 0–1 SEC) finally gets its first home SEC night of 2026, and No. 23 Texas A&M (2–1, 0–1 SEC) is the visitor walking into Tiger Stadium on ABC with the same empty league column purple is carrying out of Oxford.
This is Wear Gold. This is Champions Day. Louisiana Sports posted the full stadium clock Saturday morning: Victory Hill in the late afternoon, guest captains Jarvis Landry, Early Doucet, and Brad Wing before the Golden Band’s pregame, then kickoff at 6:44 p.m. CT. The TV window has said 6:30 all week. The stadium timeline says the ball comes out a few minutes later. Either way, the lights are for real, and both sides are still hunting that first SEC win after LSU’s 32–24 loss at Ole Miss and A&Ms 31–21 home drop to Kentucky.
Friday’s SEC availability report did not rewrite LSU’s board. Tight end Trey’Dez Green, safety Dashawn Spears, and wideout Phillip Wright III remain out. Corner Ja’Keem Jackson stays questionable. Tamarcus Cooley is off the report after Thursday’s upgrade — he is available, which matters with Spears done for the year and the star spot already a patch job. That is the same thinned roster this desk has been writing all week. Game day does not invent healthy bodies.
The new line on the other sideline is the backfield. Texas A&M running back Jamarion Morrow was downgraded from questionable to doubtful on Friday’s report, per KBTX and the TigerHype write-up of the SEC list. Wideout Terry Bussey is out. Ashton Bethel-Roman remains questionable. A final report still drops 90 minutes before kick, so statuses can still move. Until then, the Aggies Friday news is Morrow’s downgrade — a thinner rotation around Marcel Reed on a night when Death Valley is already loud enough without gifts.
Oxford still sits on the film. The crowd does not care. Gold fills the bowl, the band marches the hill, and the first league win in this building is still sitting there for whoever takes it. Kick is tonight. Take it.
