Leavitt’s not doubtful anymore. He’s questionable — and Oxford is tomorrow.

Thursday’s SEC sheet moved the Magnolia Bowl from panic to a coin flip under center.

Twenty-four hours after No. 10 hit the first availability report as doubtful, Sam Leavitt is back to questionable. Field Level Media and WAFB both had the Thursday upgrade. Matt Moscona reported back spasms kept him out of Wednesday’s workout and that he returned Thursday morning. CBS and On3 still talk throwing-shoulder soreness. The SEC sheet does not name the body part. It names the odds: questionable means about a 50 percent chance. Fridays report and the final sheet ninety minutes before kick still decide whether purple’s dual-threat starter walks into the Vaught or whether Landen Clark / Husan Longstreet inherit the Grove noise.

That is the only update that matters one day out. Everything else was already loud. No. 7 LSU at No. 8 Ole Miss, 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday on ABC. College GameDay in The Grove from 8 a.m. CT — Morgan Freeman as guest picker, Pete Golding live on set, first Grove show since 2021, per ESPN’s press shop. First top-10 LSU–Ole Miss meeting since 1962. Home has won the last six in the series. Purple has not left Oxford with a win since the 2019 title year. Kiffin walks into the building he left.

Troopers are tripled. The lawsuit papers already hit the parking lot. None of that changed Thursday. The quarterback designation did.

T.J. Dottery stays questionable. Tylen Singleton bumped to probable. Whit Weeks and Trey’Dez Green came off the sheet in some write-ups. Three players remain out. Ole Miss is still bringing Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy into the teeth of a defense that has been as mean as any in the country through two weeks. If Leavitt goes, purple has its dual-threat engine. If he does not, Clark’s mop-up 7-of-10 for 109 and a score is the depth chart on paper — and Oxford is not mop-up.

Lane Kiffin did not put Leavitt on the Monday podium and did not put him on the Thursday radio show. Oxford staff sources told ESPN they were skeptical of the original doubtful tag. Fine. Argue gamesmanship on Monday. Tomorrow is about whether No. 10 is under center when the Stripe Out hits kickoff.

One more availability report tonight. Then the bus. Then The Grove. Then we find out if questionable meant ready — or just closer than doubtful.
