Oxford is in the books the wrong way. A&M is next — Death Valley, Saturday night.

Purple does not get a soft landing after Oxford. Texas A&M comes to Tiger Stadium Saturday, Sept. 26, 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC — first true road game of the year for Mike Elko’s bunch, night kick in Death Valley, and a Week 4 SEC scrap that already feels like a season hinge. Good Bull Hunting and Aggies Wire both framed it that way Monday: LSU fell 32–24 at Ole Miss, A&M fell 31–21 at home to Kentucky, and whoever loses this one walks into October at 2–2 and 0–2 in the league.

The series still leans purple historically, but the Aggies have taken five of the last eight and the last two meetings, including last year’s 49–25 wreck in Baton Rouge when Marcel Reed ran wild. Reed has seven touchdowns against the Tigers across those two games, five of them on the ground, per Good Bull Hunting’s first glance. That is the tape Blake Baker’s front has to answer. Sam Leavitt still owns the purple headset after the Magnolia Bowl comeback that fell short. Aggies Wire says star tight end Trey’Dez Green — LSU’s leading receiver through three weeks — is unlikely to face A&M after getting carted off in Oxford, with a return expected sooner rather than later. Corner Dashawn Spears is reportedly done for the year. A&M is dealing with its own nicks: Terry Bussey hurt on the opening kick against Kentucky and not expected back soon; freshman back KJ Edwards also left that game.

The national remote that matters beyond Baton Rouge is No. 1 Texas at No. 14 Tennessee on Saturday — noon ET window, Neyland, both still undefeated entering the week per ESPN’s preview board. Fine.
